Lenovo Announces Three New Smartphones

09 Feb

If high-end smartphones aren’t your cup of tea, Lenovo also announced three new smartphones – S930, S650 and A859 – that packs some mid-range specs under their pretty large hood measuring at 6”, 4.7” and 5” respectively. First up, the Lenovo S930 is a dual-SIM smartphone with a gigantic 6” 720 x 1280 LCD IPS display. Made out of polycarbonate aka plastic with metal trim that makes it look pretty good actually, it is powered by a 1.3Ghz quad-core MT6582 processor and has 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage expandable via microSD, 8MP rear shooter and 1.8MP camera at the front. Touted as a multimedia device, it has 3,000mAh battery on board for one full day of heavy media consumption, and speakers located at the front. There are a number of 6” (or larger) smartphones in the market but with a price of RM1,000, the S30 actually sounds pretty good. For something a little smaller, the S650 features a 4.7” display and dual-SIM support and packs almost the same goodness under its hood such as a 1.3Ghz quad-core MT6582 chipset, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage that is expandable via microSD, and 8MP rear shooter. What makes the S650 different is a less pixel-dense display of 540 x 960 resolution, naturally a smaller battery capacity of 2,000mAh and no stereo speakers. It is also cheaper with a price tag of RM750, that’s pretty decent if you ask me. Finally last but not least, the A859 is a budget Lenovo smartphone that packs some decent specs under its 5” 720×1280 IPS display. Just slightly cheaper than the S650 with a price of RM720, it has the same 1.3GHz MT6582 processor on board, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, and an 8MP rear camera. According to Lenovo, these devices are available immediately in countries where Lenovo smartphones are sold. Lenovo Malaysia recently showed off the S930 in their latest local event so let’s hope it wouldn’t be too long before we actually see the 6” device along with the other two in our market.
