CES 2014 may be over and MWC isn’t for another month but that doesn’t stop Sony from introducing new devices, the company recently unveiled several new smartphones namely the Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia T2 Ultra Dual and Xperia E1. First up, both Xperia T2 Ultras are the latest 6” phablets from Sony that packs some pretty impressive mid-range specs with an even more impressive price point. Both the T2 Ultra and T2 Ultra Dual are identical except, as the name suggests, one has only one SIM slot and the other has two. They both feature a 6” Triluminos display with a resolution of 720 x 1280. Measuring at a mere 7.6mm thin, it is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 chipset with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage on board. Other specs include a “best-in’class” 13MP rear shooter with Exmor RS mobile sensor, 1.1MP front camera with Exmor R sensor, NFC, LTE, and 3,000mAh battery. The Xperia T2 Ultra will be rolled out globally and while Sony made no mention to the price, it did state that it will have a mid-range price point of less than USD$546, that’s about RM1,700. Next up if big phones aren’t your cup of tea, Sony also introduced the Xperia E1 Walkman phone that packs some entry-level specs into a pretty solid body that features Sony’s signature design. Apart from an affordable price, which hasn’t been announced by Sony but the company did hint it’s less than 175 Euro (approximately RM780), the selling point of the Xperia E1 is its very loud speaker of 100Db with ClearAudio+ and xLoud technologies on board for a crystal-clear sound quality. Specs wise, beneath the 4” 480 x 800 display of the Xperia E1 is a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of expandable internal storage. It also features a 3MP rear camera, HSPA+ connectivity, 1,700mAh battery, run on Android 4.3 out of the box, single/dual-SIM, and will be available in black, white or purple.
